Module Aims

The module begins with a consideration of the nature and history of the Eucharist, the culminating sacrament of Christian Initiation. Participants will study the development of the celebration of the Eucharist over the course of the centuries.

The second part of the module will focus on the nature of Liturgical Time as the context for the celebration of the Christian liturgy. Attention will be paid to the day, the season and the year.

Learning Outcomes

  • Participants will be able to give a detailed description of the development, structure and nature of the celebration of the Eucharist.
  • Participants will be able to clearly explain the nature of Eucharistic praying.
