The Jerome Biblical Commentary for the 21st Century had its Irish book launch at St Patrick’s Pontifical University, Maynooth, on Thursday 26 May. Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly reflected on his experience of using the earlier editions of the Jerome Biblical Commentary. Dr Kieran O’Mahony explored how the new commentary treated some difficult biblical texts, while Dr Jessie Rogers spoke of the new volume’s accessibility to interested lay readers. All the available copies of the volume sold out at the launch. One of the commentary’s editors is Tipperary native John Collins, now teaching at Yale University. Irish-based contributors include Fearghus Ó Fearghail (Carlow College) on St Paul and Jeremy Corley (Maynooth) on the Book of Sirach.
