Support Services: Here to Help

University life has many aspects that aren’t directly attached to the course itself. It’s about the life outside the classroom, finding groups of likeminded people to pursue hobbies with. It’s cultural, it’s social and it’s also about looking after yourself and learning to live away from home.

Maynooth is brimming with supports and services and clubs and societies that can help you thrive at University. We have presentations that you can view if you’d like to see what’s available to you.

We have the best of both worlds: a smaller community with the big university experience. For the personalised supports for you, click AT SPCM; for the wider campus supports, click AT MU.

Sandra Norgrove - Student Mentor

Student Mentor

Going into third level education can be a challenging yet highly rewarding experience. We are committed to making students' time in Maynooth as positive and enjoyable as possible.

Sandra Norgrove is the Student Mentor. Her job is to ensure students have access to appropriate supports and guidance which will assist them in their progression through academic studies in SPPU. She can point students in the right direction so that they can get the support services they need, which are available for free on campus, such as chaplaincy services, counselling, and budgeting advice.

If students are struggling with lectures, assignments, or exams, are having financial difficulties, or their personal circumstances are causing them distress, they can contact the Student Mentor. She is there to listen and offer students support through those challenges. You can email her at studentmentor@spcm.ie or call in to the Pontifical University Office.

In keeping with our Strategic Plan, we aim to create a personable, helpful, challenging, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, which is rooted in a Catholic identity and committed to the intellectual and human growth of all students so that they might become reflective, skilled, and confident graduates.
