Component title of the blended intensive mobility programme: On the Search for Peace - Multidisciplinary Approaches

ECTS credits: 3

The program details focuses on:

Have you ever considered the variety of approaches to achieving peace and their theological, philosophical, social-scientific and historical roots? This Blended Intensive Programme presents peace as an interdisciplinary concept that encompasses theological, ethical and cultural considerations. The course is designed primarily for students from various fields who wish to deepen their understanding of multidisciplinary interpretations of peace. At the same time, it places strong emphasis on interreligious dialogue and introduces the core concepts of secular peace studies. Participants will explore how different concepts of peace relate to one another, and how they complement or challenge each other in practice. The programme pays particular attention to major twentieth-century conflicts, wars and traumas as sources of learning. This historical analysis clarifies the interconnections between structural violence, the politics of memory and reconciliation processes. The course seeks to answer the question of how we can learn from past experiences to help present-day conflicts move towards reconciliation. The international student cohort fosters culturally sensitive thinking and the comparison of diverse contexts. Through seminars and workshops, the programme aims to enable participants to develop an integrated understanding of peace. As part of this process, participants' critical thinking, ethical discernment and capacity for dialogue are strengthened.
