Under the title "European Humanism in the Making", we reflect together with students from other European universities on the European project in its various dimensions: historical, cultural-literary, religious, scientific-philosophical. The theme of social institutions and citizenship is also discussed. The course participants gain a better understanding of what Europe can mean for us and for the future. This is done on the basis of changing formats and interactive sessions in a beautiful historical environment.

it is hosted by LUMSA University, Rome on their campus in Gubbio, near Perugia in Italy. Students come from across subjects including law and psychology, theology and philosophy, political and economic sciences, social and cultural sciences, geography and education. They come from as far afield as Georgia, Ukraine, Slovakia, Poland and Lebanon.

The school is made up of classes in the morning, workshops in the afternoon and public lectures in the evening. The students value the summer school as an enriching experience, and appreciate the multicultural exchange with open-minded persons from various religious, cultural and national traditions and the personal interaction with the teachers.

The programme consists of following five modules, structured in two parts:

PART I – Historical and Cultural Roots: Implications for Europe Today

Contribution of History to European Consciousness

Literature, the Arts, Translation and European Identity

Religion and Science and the Challenges of Humanism in Europe

PART II – Social and Political Construction: Implications for the Future of Europe
