Professor Salvador Ryan, SPPU, has recently released a volume entitled "Christmas and the Irish: a Miscellany".

The volume will feature at a number of events, see below:

Royal Irish Academy, Dawson Street. Official launch of Christmas and the Irish: a Miscellany, Thursday 30 November, at 6:30pm. The volume will be launched by Wexford folklorist Michael Fortune (see invitation attached).

National Museum of Ireland - Country Life - Castlebar, County Mayo, Saturday 2 December at 3pm. Prof. Salvador Ryan will deliver a lecture titled "Christmas and its Traditions: a festive journey exploring the origins of Christmas through history, art, music and literature". Celbridge Historical Society. Celbridge Community Library, Monday 4 December at 7:30pm. Prof. Salvador Ryan will deliver a lecture titled "The Origins of Christmas: a festive journey through art, literature, story and song".

The Origins of Christmas – Kildare Local History . ie

Cavan County Museum, Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan, Wednesday 6 December, at 7pm.

Prof. Salvador Ryan will deliver a lecture titled "Exploring the Origins of Christmas and its Traditions: A Festive Evening of History, Art, Literature & Carols"

Source Library and Arts Centre, Thurles, County Tipperary, Tuesday 12 December at 7pm. Christmas and the Irish will be launched by local poet Larry Doherty. Again, copies of the book will be available on the night.
